POLISH DISH A DELICIOUS DISH

It’s hard to imagine Christmas Eve without dumplings. In almost every Polish home, they are served with cabbage and mushrooms. Lightly fried, they make an excellent snack for red borscht.

Dumplings are a popular dish of Polish cuisine, which has also gained fame around the world. They are small pieces of dough traditionally filled with various types of filling and cooked in boiling water. They can be served as a main course, snack or addition to other dishes!

Today I will give you a recipe for a cake that, in my opinion, tastes the way real, classic, home-made dumplings should taste. I will also not go crazy with the stuffing, these will be traditional dumplings with meat.

Dumpling dough

4 cups of Poznań wheat flour type 500 – about 640 g

1.5 cups of hot water – about 375 ml

2 tablespoons of butter

spoon of salt

1 egg

Put the flour in a bowl and add the salt. Melt the butter in boiling water, gradually pour it into the flour and mix everything with a spoon. In the meantime, add the beaten egg and mix all the ingredients, knead a smooth dough. Put it on a floured board and knead for about 7-8 minutes.

Stuffing

500 g of cooked broth meat.

cooked vegetables from the soup (1 carrot, 1/2 parsley)

300 g mushrooms.

1 large onion.

1 tablespoon of butter.

1 egg (optional)

Meat and vegetables from the broth, fried mushrooms and onion, mix in a bowl, and then grind in a meat grinder. This will make a very tasty stuffing. Season the mix of ingredients with your favorite spices, such as salt, pepper, hot or sweet paprika

A method of preparing

Roll out the dough thinly. Cut out the circles. Stretch each piece extra in your hands. Place the dough filling in the center. Fold the dumplings in half and glue the sides together, place them next to each other on the pastry board. To prevent the dumplings from drying out while waiting for cooking, cover them with a slightly damp cotton cloth. Place each batch in a pot of salted, boiling water. Fish out the dumplings 3-4 minutes after they float to the surface.
