How does Italian politics look like ?

Italy is a parliamentary republic. Their political system is based on the statement passed in 1947. Italy has a president Sergio Mattarella who serves as the country’s national representative. The president is elected every 7 years by the national assembly. There is a right-wing government in Italy.

Previous elections

The 2022 elections were won by the “Italian Brothers” party, which has right-wing orientation, with 25.1%, gaining the majority of votes. They form coalitions with the “Democratic Party” and “Movimento 5 Stelle”.

About Parliament

The Parliament consists of two chambers: the Chamber of Deputies where there are 400 mandates and the Senate – 205 mandates, and their term of office lasts 5 years. Executive power is exercised by a government politically accountable to parliament, with a prime minister appointed by the president, who, in consultation with the prime minister, also appoints ministers. The judicial authorities are independent. Italy is divided into 20 regions, five of which have special autonomous status that allows them to introduce regulations on local matters.

Foregin policy

Italy is a member of the European Union and has an active role in international politics. Italy is also a member of NATO and other national organizations. The country is actively helping Ukraine. Italy will strive to stop the gigantic migration to Europe, which is developing crime and deregulating Europe’s economies. Italians are supporters of the environmental protection and the production of ECO products, such as the project REC-N-COMP which was initiated by Wood Furniture Home Cluster FVG.
